When it all happend
In 1774, the attack happened that had killed chief Logan's family. In 1775, Daniel Boone and his group marked out the Wilderness Road through the Cumberland Gap to the Kentucky River for the Transylvania Company, which affected both settlers and commerce through the mountains. Gen. Braxton Bragg journeyed through the defile after his defeat at Perry vile in October 1862, but Union forces did not reject that until the date of September 1863. Dr. Thomas Walker named the Cumberland Gap in 1750 when he and his group went through the Gap while investigating for the Loyal Land Company. Cumberland Gap is one of the clearest passes through the Cumberland Mountains in the Appalachian Range, is where Kentucky, Tennessee, and where Virginia meet. Cumberland Gap was a strategic time during the Civil War.
